Wes Cravens Shocker! Shout Factory Blu Ray Review!

Jonathan Parker is a college football star who is in love with Alison. Going to practice but always distracted by his girlfriend. Seeing and hearing how there is a serial killer on the loose killing full families on the news reports. The news has said the killer has taken at least 30 lives. Jonathan begins to have very real dreams about the killings, one of which is his own family. The dreams are so real he is having connections with the killer. Jonathan gets a call from his father when he wakes up telling him about the murders of which Jonanthan tells him he knows who the killer is and can take him to him. He tells his dad the killer is Horace Pinker a tv repairman and says he can take him to his shop. Pinker murders Alison in retribution for Jonathan pointing him out as the killer. Once caught Pinker gets the electric chair but it doesn't exactly kill him. He beings to possess many individuals and even moves through different electrical outlets and devises. Nobody knew he made a deal with the devil. So now Jonathan is after him to end Pinkers reign of terror with the help of his friends, dad and even Alison!

From the start you know this is a Wes Craven movie. It has a Nightmare on Elm Street meets Scream feel. It really feels like you are in both movies at the same time. Mind you Scream came out almost 7 years later. I love the story as there is that plot twist thrown in. And you start to wonder if it is true or not. Did Pinker say it because he read about Jonathan like his father said or is it real? Personally I think the story of it is real and it is good. From what I have read this was supposed to be the next franchise but it was considered a failure. Another reason why you get those Krueger vibes. Pinker was supposed to be the next in line. I will say I could watch multiple sequels of this movie. I think having him go through the waves of the television and across the world would have been awesome.

Some extra cool things about this movie are, Heather Langenkamp (Nightmare on Elm Street) was a victim in the movie, Ted Raimi (brother of Sam Raimi) is the character Pacman, Josh Tesh (TV Newscaster) plays himself basiclly in the movie.

They also have a 4K release for $35.99 that I would say has an even better quality of picture but, I would say again this blu ray release is gorgeous! I give Shocker a 4 out of 5. I loved it. I think there are very and I mean very minor things that I could have been done different to make it better but overall it is really good. I give the release a 4.5 out of 5.
