House on Rockingham 2024! Spoilers!

In a thriller about a child abduction, House on Rockingham Is about Mia. She is a cleaning lady trying to make ends meet but having a very hard time. Knowing she is getting evicted she is trying to find more work and an affordable place to live. She comes across an ad for a live in cleaning lady and messages the ad. After making a time to see the house, Mia meets up with Matt the owner. Matt shows her everything, explains everything and tells her his room and the basement are not part of the job. Mia is getting weird vibes from Matt but really needs a place to live so she takes the position. Before she leaves she meets Eileen Matts sister. They chat for a bit before Eileen has to leave.

While jogging to get her mind off things, Mia stops by a house and begins to have flashbacks about the day her sister was taken. The new owner of the house comes around the corner and when she sees him she leaves. Her friend Emily comes over to hangout and stays the night. The next day she meets Matt and gets even weirder vibes than Mia did. After she leaves Matt ask Mia if Emily was moving in and she said no. 

Mia goes to check on her father who has been in a catatonic state since the abduction. He cries everyday about it but she does her best to console him. Emily tries to tell Mia to leave after Matt had Emily "help" him move stuff in his bedroom and an argument breaks out that makes Emily leave. Mia cleaning around goes into Matts room to find Lionel trains, puppets and a sleeping bag on the floor. She picks up a roll of film and meets with her friend Gabe a photographer to get it developed. 

Mia falls asleep in her car after dealing with everything to be awoken by Eileen. They go to the park to talk. Gabe shows up at the house taking pictures and is confronted by Matt. Gabe apologizes for not talking to Matt first but then ask him to give Mia her photos. Eileen tells Mia about how Matt is not al there while Mia tells her about how her sister was taken, mother has passed away and father is in a catatonic state. When Mia returns home Matt tells her about Gabe and says if this is going to keep happening he can find another person for the job and she begs to keep it. He says don't worry Eileen said she'd kill him if he let her go.

Mia goes into the basement to find a padlocked room. She hears Matt and Eileen going down and Matt tells Eileen he is going to sell the house. She said not a chance. When they leave they lock the door back and she has to remove nails to get out the window. She sits on the porch waiting for Matt to come home and acts like she locked herself out. Mia gets to her room and opens the envelope to find pictures of her sister back at the old house. She then realizes she is in the house of her sisters abductor. Starting to freak out she starts throwing up. She looks up from the toilet to find a vent and decides she is going to check it only to find a box of kids toys she believes is her sisters with a note to come home.

Matt is helping an older lady paint a room in her house but the whole time he is watching her granddaughter. The lady tells her to go play out front while Matt is working and she would watch her. Within a minute she was taken. Eileen show up at the house asking Mia if she had seen Matt, she says no then Matt shows up. Matt gives Mia some money saying she earned it from all the work. Mia ask Matt if Eileen has any kids which he ask her why. She said she thinks Eileen would make a great mother.

Eileen confronts Matt about getting sloppy after their mother text Matt about some of the stuff. Matt says he doesn't want to do this anymore. Eileen tells him she thinks he just wants a new pet. Matt said no but he wanted to take care of it. Eileen said okay she was going to keep her eye on Mia. Matt goes into his room and takes a handful of pills. Eileen finds that Mias room is empty and she goes to se Matt. When she gets to his room she finds him dead from an overdose. Mia goes into the padlocked room she finds Emily and the little girl. She gets the little girl out and tells her to room to the nearest house to get the police. After getting her out Mia is confronted by Eileen who now has a gun pointed at her. Talking about how her sister was Matts favorite. Mia makes a quick move and slits her throat. The response teams show up and we fade to black. 

House on Rockingham is written and directed by Stephen Folker. Cast members include Olivia Child, Dave Juehring and Stephanie Goff. I give this movie a 2 out of 5. Very very slow burn with almost nothing happening but dialog. Unfortunately these things happen in real life a lot. And truly as easy as they show it. If you want to watch an abduction movie that I think was done well watch Chained. I am not a personal fan of them as this hits home very hard as my niece was abducted. We did get her back safely but again it was a very scary thing to go through not knowing if you would ever see them again.
