Jack and his wife Rachel go to a farm house in the middle of nowhere Australia. The reason for the visit will be talked about later in the movie. They meet up with Ricky who in a rage accidently elbows Rachel causing her to hit her head on the mantel. Ricky then attacks Jack but Jack bust a bottle and stabs Ricky in the neck killing him. Now beaten nearly to death Jack starts through the fields trying to get help.

Jack finds a another small house nearby and pleads for help. Ned who was suspicious of Jack agreed to help after asking a few questions. Ned decides to bring a rifle of which Jack as about and Ned tells him if there is one and you think you killed him there could be more. Taking Jack back to the farm house to get Rachel, Ned realizes the guy Jack killed was his brother. Jack walks in on Ned crying over Rickys body saying he is going to kill him. Jack takes off again and Ned tries to run him down with his truck. Eventually Ned catches him and brings him back to the house. He beats him even more but that is very minor. He then ties him to a chair and pulls out a knife. Ned brings Rachels body into the room and tells Jack this is the last thing this eye will see. He sticks the knife into Jacks right eye cutting it out. He then looks into his left and and says I'm the last thing this eye will see. Ned proceeds to cut out the left eye. Ned then crucifies Jack to the wall.

Jack falls off the wall and feels around the room. He finds the rifle and thinks about shooting himself but can't do it. He makes it to the door and runs for his life. Ned was outside digging a grave for him and slowly follows him. He comes close to him and Jack fires off all six rounds and jumps him again. He drags him back to the grave and tells him he can dig it. After Jack digs a grave around six feet deep he tells him that's good enough. Jack ask him for his name and begs him to take them close to town and drop them in the ditch. He says her family deserves to have her and that since they were blindfolded and he doesn't have his eyes anymore anyway they would get away with it. Ned throws Rachels body in the whole and begins to fill it.

Jack pulls himself out of the grave and begins the walk again. Thinking about killing himself but continues the long travel to get to safety. He ends up back at Neds farm house and goes inside. He feels around and finds a butchers knife. Ned is taking a shower and Jack goes into the bathroom and starts stabbing him over and over again until he dies. Jack leaves Neds mother there and leaves again.

For two days Jack was walking and trying to find a way to civilization and a dog shows up. Traveling with the dog and no longer alone he gets a second wind to make it. The dog runs off and he freaks out. Finally Jack finds a dirt road and follows it to a gate. He hears a vehicle and tries to yell for it and flag it down. The man pulls up and puts him in the truck. Thinking he is being taken to town he is actually being taken back to Rickys house and is beaten/stab to death. The man who picked him up was the father.

Now with this movie you try and figure out what is going on or how did they get there in the first place. Like I said it is revealed later in the movie but Ricky is a drug dealer of what seems to be meth. When Jack only wants $20 worth though he is holding 250 grams Ricky goes off. Demanding that Jack pays him everything he has for wasting his time. Ricky then grabs Jack and pushes him against the wall when Rachel tries to get Ricky off of him and thats when he elbows her. More of a shrug though. And that is why everything happened. Ricky is also supposed to be a war vet who when he returned he had problems but the military didn't want to help him.

Things I liked. When Ned cuts out Jacks eyes saying "an eye for an eye" you get about 2 minutes of black screen but can hear everything going on as if you were "looking" through Jacks eyes. Ned explaining how his brother was not a bad person but they threw him away like trash and didn't care he came back with problems. The practical effects with Jacks face. His eyes was so nasty. Jacks characters will to live even though everything he went through.

Things I disliked. There is no way in hell and I mean no way in hell you would have lived through this. You could probably have lived through the first beating but not a chance of the second one and even if you did you wouldn't have enough strength to be able to crawl out of the grave. I am also not a big fan of going back and forth in time for what happened. I wouldn't mind it if you gave me the whole movie and then close to the end do a flashback to understand what was happening instead of every act.

I would recommend Beaten to Death for at least a one time view. It gets a 2.5 out of 5. The brutal scenes including the slicing/removal of Jacks eyes was crazy. The main downfall for me was there is no way anyone would have made it that long. I get a vibe of Wolf Creek which I love but not as much story. You don't know if the family has been killing for a while or if this was Rickys first one. You don't know if Ned had done anything before or not. So I would have liked a little more of a backstory.
