After his wife passes away Captain Charles Boone takes his three children from the sea to a manor in Chapelwaite. The manor was left to him from his cousin Stephen. It doesn't take them long to know the nearby town of Preachers Corner doesn't want them there as they believe everything that has went wrong is do to the Boone family curse. Charles explains whatever hate that is towards his family has nothing to do with him and his children but the town wont have it. Unfortunately the town has bigger problems than Charles in an individual named Jakub. The other issue is the dead are not staying dead.

This series is only one season and is ten episodes long. It is based on Stephen Kings short story Jerusalem's Lot. Though it starts out slow it really turns up later in the season. There is a lot of twist that make you think throughout the series. Trying to figure out who the real bad person/people are, if there is an illness or curse, or if people are going crazy. Adrien Brody does an amazing job with this show. Brings out real emotions on what is happening. Based in the 1800s I think they did a good job of keeping it to the times. There are a few things that slipped past them but otherwise it is good. The kills are done very well.

I give Chaplewaite 4 out of 5. There are only a few minor things that drop the score for me. Sometimes it is slow to get from one thing to another, sometimes makeup looks like they forgot to touchup before the scene. Again it is minor things but it knocks the score down. I watched it on Prime Video using the MGM+ add on. At the time of writing this you can buy the blu-ray on Amazon for $26.80. It is an all regions blu ray.
