1600's New England an English settler named William and his family, wife Katherine, daughter Thomasin, son Caleb and young fraternal twins Jonas and Mercy are banished from the Puritan village. There was a religious dispute and they were told to leave. After leaving they build a farm in a forest. Katherine has the couples fifth child Samuel. Strange things start to happen when Thomasin starts playing with Samuel a "witch" takes him without Thomasin seeing it. Scared she has to tell her family who start to blame her. Slowly they start turning on one another. Thomasin kept telling them it was not her but they didn't believe her. Oh and lets not forget about Black Phillip! The true question is what is happening? Is there a witch or entity? Or is the family going crazy?


It took me a few viewings to really get into this movie. A co-worker of mine who was a film student told me to watch it again. I let them know I still am not understanding what I was watching and they would say watch it again. I finally believe I get it lol. I enjoy this movie a lot. It is a very slow burn though so if you aren't into those types of movies this one is not for you. It is like The Lighthouse, Hereditary and Midsommar. Another thing I find interesting is one of the actresses name is Bathsheba which is the name of the demon in Annabelle.
