Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves! Spoliers!

Edwin and Holga have been imprisoned for years now and are up to the counsel to try and get pardoned. Edwin starts to give a back story about himself to the counsel to try and sway them to let them go. They keep asking where Jarnathan is as he is one of the counsel members. Being told to continue because they are capable of giving a decision without Jarnathan. So he continues his story letting them know he was a spy for the Harpers and would help with stopping/capturing thieves, murders, sorcerers. How he did that by day but by night he would go home to his wife and daughter. One day he realized that he had helped capture the Red Wizard and that is was his disciples who had just rode past him. It hit him they were going in the direction of his home. Upon returning home his wife has been murdered but she hid their daughter. He explained he was after a tablet that brings one person back from the dead when they were captured. Jordan shows up and is a Falcon. Edwin was planning an escape using Jordan by pushing him out the window and riding him to safety. Edwin and Holga make it to safety. 

After returning to Neverwinter to reunite with his daughter and get the tablet to bring his wife back, they find out one of their former group members Forge was now the lord of Neverwinter. And he is still partnered up with Sonia who used a time stopping spell that got them captured. Forge has been brainwashing Kyra, Edwins daughter that he wasnt there for her but the gold and that is why he left her. At this time it is revealed that Sonia is a Red Wizard and they recapture Edwin and Holga and send them to be executed. Forge not only sent them but let Edwin know he would not get the tablet or his daughter back before hand. Telling him he is bringing back the High Sun Games. Just before being executed Holga distracts the executioner and then makes her attack. She defeats all the guards while Edwin just tries to get the ropes off his wrist. 

They decide they need to get a pose together to infiltrate Forges castle and get the tablet and Kyra. So they recruit Simon a low calibur sorcerer and Doric a shapeshifter. They use Doric to get in and listen to what the plans are. She finds out the Vault was armed with a spell too strong for Simon to break. So the next plan was to get the Helm of Disjunction. They proceed to asking Holgas fallen family to find it. Simon resurrects the dead to ask them five questions each. After asking a handful they get the answers needed to get the Helm. Going to the Underdark and using a staff Holga got off her ex, they are able to obtain the Helm but Thayan Assassins sent by Sonia show up. After defeating them Xenk defeats them and explains you can't kills what is already dead they awaken Themberchaud a pudgy dragon. Using all their abilities and having the help that Themberchaud is very pudgy they were able to escape using fire from Simon when the dragon blew its gassy breath. 

Simon trying very hard to master the Helm is having a hard time. No matter what he does it doesn't seem to be working. So the group decides they have a new plan. They are going to enter the castle using the staff and a painting to transport from one spot to another. Plan goes very wrong when the painting falls. So Doric says she just needs a small hole and will turn into a worm and get in. So while she is trying that the group is going another direction. She gets into the vault but so does Simon and Holga. Simon and Holga says they both can't be in the vault because not only do they not see her there is nothing in it. Doric investigating the army taking the gold, jewels and more to a ship gets knocked out. After being captured again they make a deal to play the High Sun Games. It is a maze of which there are many dangers including a panther with venus fly traps on it. Both Simon and Doric have had a bracelet put on that keeps magic from happening. They team gets split up and Doric runs into a gelatinous cube and it removes her bracelet. So after making it to the safety cage they recognize that there is no way to win straight up and come up with yet another plan. Doric figured a way out by diving into the cube right before it drops and then she would shapeshift and get them out. 

After escaping they take control over Forges ship and not only get the ship, tablet but also Kyra back. While sailing away they notice weird bolts coming from the sky. Edwin has seen this before it was what killed most of Xenks family. They turn around and use the hot air balloon Forge had to drop all the gold to get the crowd to leave the arena. Next thing you know they are confronted by Sonia. After a back and forth battle  it looked like Sonia finally got the upper hand with her time stopping spell all of them were still as can be. While talking to Edwin about what was about to happen Edwin can't stay still anymore and lets Sonia know that Simon stopped her spell. Then when she tried to use more magic it didn't work because Kyra put the bracelets on her using a necklace that makes you invisible. Unfortunately Holga had been stabbed in the chest with a Red Wizards dagger and you can't heal from them. After thinking about it Edwin decided to use the tablet to bring Holga back. Forge was sentenced to prison and the old lord returned. 

I give this movie a 3 out of 5. I really enjoyed it. I have been waiting on a D&D movie since 2000. This movie had most of the aspects of the original and the game. My favorite scene was the graveyard one asking Holgas ancestors questions. This is yet another movie they could have done more with but I am happy with what we got. Hoping that we get more of them. I would like them to do them Princess Bride style in the idea that maybe teens are playing a game but we see what they are imaging. You can watch this movie on Paramount Plus.
