Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things 4K! Directed and written by Bob Clark, screenplay by Alan Ormsby. Distributed by VCI Entertainment. Cast, Alan Ormsby, Valerie Mamches, Jeff Gillen, Anya Ormsby, Paul Cronin, Jane Daly, Roy Engleman, Robert Phillip, Bruce Solomon, Alecs Baird and Seth Sklarey.

Alan a theater director takes his cast to an island for a night of fun and to dig up a dead body. The island is known for being a very large cemetery of deranged murders, rapist and other crazies. Alan himself is a deranged, sick perverted person. On the boat they take to the island he makes the comment that the newest member of the cast Terry should have to sleep with him. Alan has Paul and Jeff unload the boat and start to the cabin along with Terry, Val and Anya. When they get to the cabin Alan opens the trunk they brought to show a shotgun, then gets out a cloak and a book of spells. He tells the group he is going to summon the dead on this night. He takes the group back out to the cemetery to the grave he wants dug up, Orville Dunworth. He tells Paul and Jeff to dig up the grave that this is the one. At this point you start to see something is not right with Anya. Alan ask where she was and Terry says back at the cabin. When Alan and Anya get back Jeff and Paul have made it to the coffin. They open the coffin to see the decaying corpse of Orville Dunworth. Alan tells Jeff to get Orville to the top of the hole and himself and Paul will get him the rest of the way out. When Jeff goes to grab him Orville grabs him instead freaking the whole group out and Terry runs off getting caught by another undead person. Jeff punches Orville in the face and gets free only to find out it is Roy. And the one who caught Terry was Emerson. Both are acting friends of Alan. Alan had set this up hours before bringing out the crew. Jeff says multiple times that he had peed his pants.

Alan says yes he set that up but now bring the real Orville over to start the summoning. Anya is now in the coffin again freaking some of them out and Alan tells her to get out. They use the headstone/cross to prop Orville up and proceed on the coffin making a pentagram on it and lighting black candles on it. Reading from the book and putting blood of an unborn fetus on the graves but nothing happens. Val tells him he doesn't know what he is doing then she hops in and starts mocking Alan. The group laughs about it and then decides to go back to the cabin. Alan tells Roy and Emerson to fill the grave back up. Alan brings Orville back with them saying it is Orvilles coming out party. They sit Orville on the couch and start talking to him and asking questions. Having Terry talk to him with Alan answering as Orville. Anya tells them to stop disrespecting them they don't like it. She begins to have a meltdown and they tell Alan to get Orville out of the room. So Alan and Jeff put him in the upstairs bedroom. While filling up the hole Roy gets attacked but the undead that have risen due to the summoning. Emerson seeing the attack runs but gets caught and killed.

Roy makes it to the cabin and tells the group they're coming. Seeing the undead coming at them they lock the doors. They start to come through the back door so they nail a closet door up to keep them out. They check on Roy and see he has died from his injuries. They try to figure out how they are going to get out alive since they are surrounded by the undead. Val says someone has to get to the boat and get help and Paul volunteers. He ask the group to distract them out front and he will run out the back. The group goes out with hammers and lights and does their best. When they get back in the hear a scream and go to check the back and see Paul was dead and being chewed on. Terry get taken from the door as well and gets killed. Jeff comes up with the idea to use the spell book to use a counter spell. They do that and notice they can't do all the things needed but after starting it the undead started to go back to the main cemetery. Now Alan, Anya, Val and Jeff start to head for the boat. They think they have sent the undead back. Val and Jeff think they hear something but keep going and then get attacked again. Val and Jeff are both killed. Alan and Anya run back to the cabin of which is again surrounded and the undead breaks in. Backing up the stairs Alan throws Anya to the undead only to find out they are not interested in hurting her. They continue to go after him. Rushing into a room he realizes he has went into the room they put Orville and is killed. The undead make it to the boat and begin to sail off.

This was a fun watch. Jeff was great the peed my pants part for some reason had me laughing so hard. I was happy when Alan got his because on top of being a prick he was going to sacrifice Anya to save himself.

The only question I have is what happened to Anya?

That may have been answered in the remake but Bob Clark passed away prior to filming it and Gravesend film was going to do a remake and it was never finished either. I give this movie a 3 out of 5. I thought it was good considering it was made on $50,000 budget and made in 14 days. At the time of writing this you can get this 4K/Blu Ray set for $27.97 at VCIEntertainment.com. I have included a link for easier access. If you like this review please hit the follow button on this blog page, share this blog page and leave a comment.
