The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974! 4K Steelbook!

Jerry, Kirk, Pam, Sally and her brother Franklin set out on a road trip. While driving they notice a lot of people and the news at this cemetery and pull off to see what is going on. Earlier that morning a grave robber dug up multiple people and tied the rotting corpses and other body parts together on a monument. Sally tells one of the men there her grandfather is buried in this cemetery. They help them find his gravesite and it is undisturbed. The group is off again and the van fills with an offer odor. Franklin says must be driving by the old slaughterhouse where his family has worked. Then explains how they kill the animals. They come across a man who is hitchhiking. They talk about the slaughterhouse of which the Hitchhiker says his brother and grandfather worked there as well. He ask Franklin for his knife and cuts his own hand. Freaks the group out a little. He takes a picture of Franklin and then demands $2. After he refuses he cuts Franklins arm with a straight razor. They kick him out of the van and he spits and smears blood on the van. Running low on gas the group pulls over at a small gas station. The owner of the gas station says they have no fuel. After using the bathroom they decide to go to Sally and Franklins families house which has been abandoned. 

The group explores the whole house expect Franklin who is wheelchair bound. Franklin tells the group that there is a big pond out back where they used to go swimming. Kirk and Pam ask for better directions so they can go down there. When Pam and Kirk get down there they find the pond is dried up. They hear a generator running and Kirk decides they are going to ask them if they have gas. When they get closer they notice a bunch of cars under a tented area. Pam stays on the porch while Kirk goes to knock on the door. The door was unlocked so he opens it saying "Hello". He hears a sound coming from a steel door straight in front of him. When he gets to the door Leatherface opens it and bashes him in the head multiple times with a mallet. Pam tired of waiting on Kirk enters the house and looks around seeing animal and human bones everywhere. Leatherface grabs her, picks her up and impales her on a meat hook. Not yet dead Pam watches as Leatherface dismembers Kirk with a chainsaw. 

Later that night when Kirk and Pam don't come back Jerry goes looking for them. He finds the house and enters. He finds Pam hanging on the meat hook almost dead and Kirks twitching body in the freezer. Leatherface kills him with the mallet. Sally decides she is going to go looking for them and Franklin tells her to stay there with him and wait for them to return. After yelling for a few more minutes Sally decides she is going and Franklin says wait for me. As they are going through the wood Leatherface ambushes them and kills Franklin with the chainsaw. Sally running for her life is chased into the house and finds what looks like a dead man and woman's rotting corpses. Sally jumps out of the second story window to get away. Running again from Leatherface she makes it back to the gas station. Where the owner brings her in and locks the door. Lets her know nobody is outside and tells her he will get his truck and they will get to safety. When he his truck Sally realizes what is happening so he beats her, ties her up and throws her in his truck. When they get back to the house He yells at the Hitchhiker and Leatherface now dressed as a woman for all the screwups they have made. Tells them to bring Grandpa down for dinner. They cut Sallys finger and let Grandpa suck the blood from it which makes Sally pass out.

The next morning Sally regains consciousness and hears them talking about killing her. They want Grandpa to do it. They put the hammer in his hand and try their best for him to swing it but he keeps dropping the hammer because he is so weak. Sally finally breaks free and runs for the road. Being chased by both the Hitchhiker and Leatherface. Hitchhiker gets his hands on her but is hit by a truck, the driver gets out and attacks Leatherface with a wrench injuring him then runs away. Sally makes it to the road and flags down a truck. Hops in and Leatherface just misses her. Sally begins to laugh nervously. Not 100 percent sure she is out of danger but is getting away. Leatherface begins spin around swinging his chainsaw. 

I love this movie a lot. So small notable things I like. When they first get to the gas station, every time the owner goes to talk to them in the van a guy comes up to wash the windows. When the owner stops he stops and it happens multiple times. They stop to let Franklin pee and the gust of wind from a Semi passing by sent him down a hill. It is wrong to laugh at that part but I can't help it. Easily 4.5 out of 5 for me.

The 4K Steelbook is beautiful! The front has the original movie poster image. The back is a little disappointing as it is blank. It is two discs with the first one being the 4K and the second being Blu-Ray. 4K has the feature film and commentaries. The Blu-Ray has tons of extras including the full length documentary The Legacy of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. At the time of writing this you can buy it on Amazon for $30.
